Thursford Events

Although Thursford is mainly known for the hugely popular Christmas Spectacular, for a small village, there's lots more going on (on a smaller scale!) throughout the year. Regular concerts are held in St Andrew's church, with a wide variety of performers to match many music tastes. You'll find a number of up and coming events on this page. Look out for more events for 2018 as they are announced.

  Faures Requiem

The Cantilina Choir
Saturday 24th March 7.00pm
St Andrew's Church

Faure's Requiem and More
Tickets £10 at the door, including a glass of wine and canapes

Faure's Requiem is described by Classic FM as "distilling some of the most beautiful melodies he ever composed". Performed in the beautiful setting of St Andrew's Church, Thursford, this concert by the talented Cantilina Choir will be a treat.

Cantilena began life as a small group which sang at Christmas, Easter and other special services at St Andrew’s Church at Field Dalling in North Norfolk. Over the years, it has grown into a chamber choir of around 20 members that meets regularly and sings at concerts and services throughout Norfolk.

Its conductor and musical director is Rosemary Kimmins, who studied singing and piano at the Royal Academy in London. Under her leadership, Cantilena now performs a wide range of choral works for mixed voices.

More recently, the choir has specialised in the music of larger choral works, arranged for the smaller resources of a chamber ensemble.  One such arrangement, of Gabriel Fauré’s much-loved Requiem, is featured in Cantilena’s first ever concert in Thursford Church.
