About Thursford

Situated 8 miles inland from Wells-next-the-Sea, Thursford has the benefit of being close to the North Norfolk coast, but away from the hurley burley that the summer season brings.

The village thrives through its association with the Thursford Collection, famous for its steam museum and for the Christmas Spectacular. Residents greatly benefit from the maintenance and care given to the village by the museum staff.

It's a great village to live in with a strong sense of community, which has come even more to the fore during the 2020 pandemic. An active Parish Council works hard to protect the community's intersts, while helping Thursford to thrive. Working with the Parochial Church Council it has helped develop our local chuch, St Andrew's, into a community building for all, the venue for events, concerts and meetings (once Covid restrictions are behind us).

Thursford's links with in particular its farming past are well displayed on the village sign. Agricuture remains a mainstay of the village, but alongside there are a number of largely internet based businesses, as well as those in the tourism sector.

Our connection with our holiday home residents is strong and many take part in community life when they are able. Property in Thursford does not come onto the market very often, but when it does it goes quickly.

Quality of life, good communications with the outside world and close to the sea, what more could anyone want!
